Why cats are more clever than babies

Cats use their heads to determine if they can fit through a particular space.
This is because on a cat, their head is the largest part of thier body - If their head can squeeze through somewhere, inevitably the rest of them can too.

Babies also use their heads - mostly because when they are crawling, this is the first part of their body to find a place that needs squeezing into.
Unfortunately, on my 14 month old, his shoulders are actually wider than his head - thus he tends to get stuck a lot and cry for help to be extricated from various nooks and crannies that he's gotten his big noggin stuck into.

While this is amusing for me to watch, for a few minutes - I eventually feel sorry enough for the little guy, and rescue him, only to have him turn around and promptly get stuck somewhere else.

Cats are also amusing to watch - especially with an empty Kleenex box. They can get their heads in easily enough, then finding it empty they try to back up - It's most hilarious to watch the box back up with them, as it is light and grips their head just enough to not hurt but be incredibly annoying. I've seen a cat continuously back up the length of a room at near lightspeed trying to extricate themselves out of a Kleenex box.

A Kleenex box does not fit on my 14 month old's head, so I've not tried a comparitive experiment, although if I had a giant Kleenex box - I bet the baby would be more clever than the cat in finding a way to get it off - Even if it were to yell loudly until mummy felt enough sympathy to remove it, it would still be a valid method of head extrication.

So maybe babies are more clever than cats after all.
My experiments are far from over. Results to be announced at a later date.

HAve you ever had a baby get his head stuck in a cat flap? Oh yes....Elijah Henry come on down!! Had to be the funniest sight! Mum's cat flap is in her kitchen and tucked behind a work top ( they blokced off the door) even funnier was the fact that the sound he was making was so similar to a meowling cat we almost didn't look there for him! Never mind how amazing it is to see the things they get their huge heads stuck IN...I can never believe where those fat old heads came OUT!

LOL Helen, of course mine were relatively small (joey being a rather large exception).Still, coming out those six pounds felt like 12! At least I had drugs.
