Happy Canada Day!

Yes it was officially yesterday - but today is the official "you don't have to work, all the stores are closed" day.

There were a few fireworks last night - probably more tonight.

We are off to Oma and Opas - to have a BBQ, maybe a swim (although it's a bit chilly today) and most importantly, to celebrate Matthew's 5th birthday - which isn't until Wednesday, but middle of the week is hard to celebrate with extended family, and since we are getting together for the holiday anyway - may as well shower the boy with delightful presents and balloons and most importantly CAKE!

He wants a spiderman cake - which I'm not brave enough to attempt, but which I think Baskin Robbins will do for a price - made of his favourite green mint chocolate chip ice cream - since Matthew himself doesn't actually eat cake. He eats icing, but not cake. Just like doughnuts - he eats the icing, and sprinkles, but not the doughnuts. He has an ULTRA sweet tooth - a whole mouthful in fact.

Oh Canada - We love you!

Happy early birthday to Matthew! :) What a perfect time for a birthday! Fireworks! :)

My Hanna will not eat frosting, only the cake. If she were younger, they'd be quite a pair!

Happy Canada Day, and Happy Birthday to Matthew!! 5 years old!

Ethan had a Spiderman cake for his 4th birthday, I did a round red cake with black spider web frosting. But oh my, that mint choc chip icecream cake sounds YUMMY and best of all you won't have to do anything!!

Have a great BBQ!
